2023 - Zack Richard.jpg

Zack Richard - LINDY HOP

Nearly twenty years ago Zack discovered a passion for swing dancing (through the movie Swing Kids… yup. Classic!) and kinda never looked back. Or like, only looked back occasionally. That being said, it’s a love of discovery, connection to the other, to ourselves, and to the music that brought him to co-found Swing ConneXion with Maryse Lebeau – after having already made Montreal swing dance history by developing the first years of Studio 88 Swing and the Swinging Air Force.

It is with sustained interest that Zack thinks and approaches his teaching. Always figuring out or discovering new ways to dance, to think, and connect with the spirit of jazz and communication between partners, the best compliment he can receive – despite his many wins on the competition dance floor – is still “Hey thanks, amazing class!”

Today Sylvain is very involved in the Rock'n'Roll scene, he gives regular classes, coaches teams, but is also involved in two NPOs: La Fabrique Rock'n'Roll and Boogie Woogie & Swing Canada.

A physical activity and movement specialist, Joëlle is full of ideas to work on athleticism in relation to dance. Her background as a marathon runner and sub-elite runner in Quebec gives her an undeniable advantage in fast tempos and more particularly in Boogie Fast when it comes to double bounce on frantic rhythms. Several times vice-champion in strickly Boogie, she seeks above all to have fun and make this wonderful dance accessible to a maximum of people.

2023 - Michel Mazerolle.jpg

Michel Mazerolle - LINDY HOP

Michel discovered Lindy Hop in Montreal in 2004.  The passion for Lindy Hop was instantaneous and never left. Teaching at Swing Connexion from the very beginning, Michel met the world of competition in 2005. Since then, he has participated in various local, national and international competitive events (Lindy Bout, ILHC, Inspiration weekend, Camp Hollywood, etc.). At the same time, Michel attaches particular importance to the need to continue training, but especially to keep social dancing and improvisation as central elements of this art.

His passion for this dance develops around an unwavering love for jazz, its music, its rhythm and its musicality. He is part of the movement of those who believe that following in the footsteps of the creators of this art is not only a precious privilege, but also a necessary step. His dance is strongly influenced by Frankie Manning's and his artistic approach attempts to be part of a cultural and artistic continuum rooted in the values associated with jazz.

Proud of a partnership with Maude Frenette-Roy for 6 years now, it will be a great pleasure for him to share and dance with you.

2023 - Maude Frenette-Roy.jpg

Maude Frenette-Roy - LINDY HOP

In addition to teaching, she participates in several team, couple and solo projects and is interested in the world of competition.

With a genuine love of learning and an emphasis on continuous training, she considers herself privileged to dance, be inspired and celebrate the creators of this dance. Her approach is rooted in the idea that music and swing dancing are intimately connected and that loving this music makes you a better dancer. In the same spirit of symbiosis, she places particular importance on rhythm and improvisation. In this way, she considers herself both an instrument and a musician.

Since 2016, she has been developing a dance and teaching partnership with Michel Mazerolle. They have traveled and participated in several local and international events and competitions, including Herräng, Inspiration Weekend, Stompology, ILHC and recently Lindy Bout.

2023 - Jonathan Caron.jpg

Jonathan Caron - LINDY HOP

Jonathan started his dance journey almost 15 years ago at Montreal's Cat's Corner. At first to keep him busy once a week, and hopefully help him develop a social circle in a new city, he was quickly bit by the lindy hop bug. Within a few months, what had started as a once a week hobby became an obsession. That obsession led him to teach locally, nationally and in the US, coach multiple teams, compete all over North America, and share his love of jazz music and vernacular jazz dance. You might also have heard him DJ in events such as the Canadian Swing Championships, The Boston Tea Party or Beantown Swing Camp, where he's been leading the DJ Summit for three years.

Nowadays, Jonathan is mostly busy being a dad and a pharmacist, but his passion hasn't faded one bit, and he hopes his joy of dancing will prove contagious because this disease needs no antibiotic! (Sorry, lame pharmacist joke!)
