party
“Liberating, inspiring, rejuvenating euphoria!” - Brad Whelan

Hands down, the craziest party event you will go to all year !

Let this sink in:
There is a hosted party room (free alcohol), open to all (anyone over 18), with a different theme every night (Fri, Sat, Sun), designated for club dancing/letting loose (not specifically partner dancing), with a DJ spinning party & contemporary music. The whole thing STARTS at 2am, (after the live bands finish) and goes till at least sunrise, often later. Bounce to your heart’s content between the party room and the WCS room, which will be going all night too. ...You might want to read that again. ;)

kay newhouse
Kay Newhouse brings friendly warmth and attention to each of us as valuable individual members of a strong, respectful social dance community. Twenty-five years of nurturing dance friends and communities in the West Coast Swing scene undergird her voice as social dance/ social justice advocate and her fascination with the intersection between individual and community. Co-director of DCSX, Swing Fling and MADjam (the biggest West Coast Swing event in the world!), GPDIA-credentialed judge, friendly teacher, and highly addicted social dancer, Kay balances a sense of the fun of performance and competition with a strong belief that the essential soul of social dancing resides within everyone's reach, in connecting to one another on the musical playground of our shared dance floor. www.KayWCS.com

JErome Subey
Jerome has been dancing for 15 years, starting in France but spending most of his training in the US and Canada. He has enjoyed much success in Champions Jack & Jills and the Showcase division.
"One of the most important thing you can do as a dancer, anything in life to go back to your ground so you are stable before you build something on top."
Jerome is dancing and training every day. " You must evolve all the time and try to improve yourself," Jerome says. As a teacher, he embodies the philosophy of always going back to the basics. "West coast swing is a flexible dance because you can dance to so many music styles," he said. "But you never get to the bottom of the basics. I learn new things all the time." As a teacher, he focuses on equipping dancers to practice what they are learning so they can grow effectively. "I am an awkward dancer but I train a lot and I don't look awkward anymore."

BRAD WHELAN

DJ's

Joe Mahoney - CSC WCS HEAD DJ
Joe (PapaJoe) has been hanging around bars line dancing and country two-stepping since his teens. Over the years, Joe has become an integral part of the west coast swing community as a DJ, Instructor and event organizer. Joe travels around the country as a DJ at National West Coast Swing events such as Countdown Boston, Liberty Swing, MadJam, Tampa Classic, Montreal, Summer Hummer and more. Joe is the co-founder of The Dancing Fools, Boston Westie and Dirty Water West Coast Swing. He credits his father for instilling a love of both sports and dance into him, and now he is passionate about sharing that love with the next generation of dancers. When he’s not dancing or cheering on the Red Sox, Joe travels the globe for his company.

Brad Blashko
Brad is excited to once again bring his DJ skills to CSC. Hailing from Ottawa, ON, he has been DJing for over half a decade and loves keeping the dance floor packed all night. He enjoys mixing hits from the past with the most popular songs in the present, while also being on the lookout for the next big songs in the Westie scene.

Vanessa Keroack
Vanessa started swing dancing in 2007 and quickly discovered a passion for WCS which she has been practicing for 15 years now. Over the past few years, she has taken part in several events on the Canadian and American east coast as a social and competition dancer.

She is an active member of the Montreal WCS community. She made her debut as a DJ in 2018 within this same community and since 2019, she is booked to DJ at WCS events on the US east coast. She has a varied music repertoire including WCS dancer favorites from the past decade.

Isabelle Roy
Isabelle has been DJing locally since 2016, and for a large number of events since 2018. She has also set up a support system for our new local DJs. Her motto is to value variety in order to offer everyone a little of what they like. Always looking for new sounds, don't be surprised to see her using Shazam on her colleague's music!

Jenny Cadieux
Jenny has been interested in music and dance since she was little. She contributed to the growth of the WCS community in Sherbrooke for 5 years as a teacher, board member and DJ. Since 2019, she has been very involved in the WCS community in Montreal as a member of the board of directors of Westie Montreal, party administrator, teacher and DJ. She has been a DJ in the North American competitive circuit since 2023. She is known for being a DJ on the lookout for new things. She also has a weakness for acoustic songs and late night. Her greatest satisfaction is seeing how much fun the dancers have on the dance floor. She is very happy to be back in the fabulous team of DJs at CSC 2024.

Maelys Fillion
Maelys started DJing in 2017, out of a desire to bring new music to the community. Her "Turnout Friday" sets quickly became crowd favorites, and she is known for discovering new tracks and keeping everyone on the dancefloor way past their bedtime!

Stéphanie grisé
Music has always been a big part of Stephanie's life. From her teenage years, she began musical training which she continued until obtaining her diploma as a professional musician, specializing in Jazz and Popular music.
During her musical studies, she joined a Hip Hop crew and dabbled in several other dance styles thanks to her teacher who integrated them into her choreographies.
It was 12 years later, at the end of 2022, that she discovered WCS. It was only natural for her to join the local DJ team and put to contribution her experience and varied repertoire.
WCS represents a huge playground for her and above all an opportunity to share all her love of music and dance with you.
