DANCE

Great opportunities to DANCE

Indeed, the CSC is about dancing and in that sense, competition is only one expression of that passion. All competitors are also social dancers who want to perfect their art. In this case, the CSC was influenced by the very balanced schedule offered by Camp Hollywood's Hillary Alexander which alternates Social Dancing, Classes and Competitions throughout the day so that no one has to « wait all day » for what they are most passionate about!

PARTY

Great opportunities to PARTY

Dancing all night, making new friends, doing things you never thought you can do, all that happens most easily when one has a positive outlook, unhindered by dissatisfaction! That is why, the CSC here followed the guidance of such people as Tammy & Terry, the sisters behind Monsters of Swing and of course Deor « the Duke » of Detroit, who created the Battle of Swing Cities, events where the off the floor action always created more action on the floor.

CHALLENGE

Great opportunities to CHALLENGE ONE'S SELF

Prior to 2001, swing dancers in Canada who wanted to compete had to take their first steps on the international stage. The CSC was set up to provide a less costly and more accessible national stage first and in so doing encourage the growth of regional activities.

GROW

Great opportunities for GROWTH and BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

The spirit of swing dancing is to be creative and inclusive and the CSC was in this sense influenced by the events organized by Dancepros and Bill Cameron where WCS, Lindy Hop, Shag and Hand Dancing were all promoted and respected in a way that allowed dancers to thrive both on and off the competitive floor.
